Meet the Neighbors
June 2016

One of the things that we are enjoying (most of the time) in the new house is the wildlife that stops by to visit. In the picture, momma deer is teaching her fawns how to prune the ivy along the top of our retaining wall. Cheryl has had to adapt her planting choices around the yard to things that are less attractive to deer.

Goodbyes are tough

Nearly 15 years after adopting Scipio, we had to say goodbye.

We headed south to check off two more states from our list this summer. First stop was in Knoxville, TN. We checked out the McClung Museum and walked around the campus area. We had dinner at Boyd's Jig & Reel, though severe weather in the area kept the Scottish music performers from taking the stage. On our way south, we stopped to visit Cheryl's great aunt Nola for a nice visit.

Ruby Falls

We stopped in Chattanooga and caught the opening night of the local theater's production of Spamalot, still so very funny. The next day on the way out of town we checked out Ruby Falls and Rock City.

Steam Stage at Sloss Fest

Our first experience in Alabama was the Sloss music festival. We only attended for a day, but enjoyed hearing the variety of acts.
July 2016

While in Birmingham, we checked out the statue of Vulcan, the botanic gardens, the civil rights museum and the art museum.
July 2016

Rocket Park

Although not on the original itinerary, we decided to stop in Huntsville and check out the Space and Rocket Center before heading back into Tennessee for an early dinner at the Loveless Cafe.
July 2016

Belle Meade

We toured Belle Meade plantation and did a tasting at their winery.
July 2016

Athens of the east

In Nashville, we toured the Parthenon and learned all about the history of how the replica came to be built. We also checked out Green Brier Distillery and the local farmer's market.
New Family Member
October 2016

Marius joined us from the Licking Country Humane Society under the name of Fabio. They estimated his age to be around 4 years old and he was part of a 32 dog hoarding intake. We changed his name to Marius to keep with the classical theme. He is a sweet boy, but he is still learning some of the rules of the house.

Origami in the garden

During our trip to Franklin Park, we got to see the large-scale origami sculptures by artist Kevin Box.
